2022 Summer Song of Han
Miyoung Han is inspired by folding screens of Eastern origin and concertina books of Western origin. She has created unique artist book formats by combining Eastern and Western visual cultures.
This series, Song of Han is the collection of wildflower-themed poems. The colour, textures and images of wildflowers she captured in nature are represented on Korean mulberry paper. The images appearing in her book follow a narrative format.
The combination of Korean and English text, and traditional Korean paper and western pigment embody the encounter between East and West as a figurative strand. It also highlights her cultural position as a Korean-British artist, evoking her roots and her current working environment

Butterfly’s Love looking for the flower

I'm coming to you.
In a storm.
Strong wind can't stop me.
I'm looking for you.
In the water.
Many waters can't quench love.
I'm waiting for you.
In the fire.
Love is as strong as death.
Come away, my love
